Pink Tea Party - Breast Cancer Awareness

Awareness surrounding breast cancer is incredibly important as early detection, often through screening, can catch the disease when it is most treatable

Every minute, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from breast cancer. That’s more than 1,400 women every day. Unfortunately, the risk of having breast cancer has increased in Pakistan, whereby one in every nine women in Pakistan has a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. It is now time to act. This is our moment to rise, to educate women about signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and to focus on early diagnosis to save precious lives. One of our top priorities this October is educating women on what they can do to be proactive with their breast health. Knowledge and early detection save lives.

WOWPK in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre has organized the Pink Tea Parties simultaneously in Karachi and Islamabad on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, to raise awareness about Breast Cancer, to show our love and solidarity towards the cancer survivors & encourage other women through preventive education.
We were joined by a panel of expert doctors; Dr. Sana Zeeshan from Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Dr. Humaira Nasir from Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad who guided us in detail about the signs & symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and Dr. Rani Bai from Dr Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre who explained in detail about the importance of mammography for early detection of breast cancer. We also invited the two brave Cancer Warriors, Samra Zeeshan and Amna Salman Butt who shared their inspiring journies of winning their fights against Breast cancer.
The event was attended by a large number of women belonging to different age groups and from different walks of life in Karachi and Islamabad.
